Timico
DM Telecom has teamed up
with Timico, the leading independent service provider with a
passion for customer service to offer a range of business mobile
services on both the O2 and Vodafone networks.
Range of phones
Through Timico we can offer a wide range
of mobile handsets from all of the principal manufacturers, including
Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Siemens, Sharp and Samsung.Whether
you're after a single handset or a sizeable fleet our team can
advise you on the most suitable models.
Tariff plans
We like to keep things simple. You tell us what kind of calls
you'll be making, how many you're likely to make and at what time
of day and we'll come up with the tariff plan that offers the
best possible match. If one of our standard plans on Vodafone
or O2 isn't quite right, we can create a bespoke tariff plan especially
for you.
Voicemail
If you're unable to take a call, a personalised
voicemail greeting on your phone inviting your
caller to leave a message helps you keep track of the calls you've
missed. You can pick up your messages from your mobile or remotely
from another phone, using a PIN code.
Texting
Texting - or short message service (SMS)
- is an ideal way to ensure messages get to clients or colleagues
quickly and discreetly. If you know a colleague is in a meeting
but is waiting for
urgent confirmation of an order for example, a text will notify
them instantly, without having to disturb them.
Picture messaging
If you work in a business which relies
heavily on visual images e.g. estate agency, then picture messaging
- or multi-media messaging service (MMS) - can be the ideal way
to send images back to base quickly and easily.
Mobile VPN
If you have a fleet of mobile phones, it
is now very easy to integrate your company's fixed and mobile
phones to make it easier for your colleagues to communicate with
each other and also significantly reduce your costs.
Using Timico, we can integrate
your mobile fleet into your existing company dialling plan,
allowing colleagues to call each other's mobiles from fixed line
phones using a short extension number. Colleagues out and about
can also dial back into the office from their mobile using
the same short dialling plan. A range of Mobile VPN tariff plans
is available on both Vodafone and O2 and the possible savings
can be significant.
Need a car kit for your
mobile?
The Government is planning even tougher
penalties for drivers caught using a mobile phone at the wheel
with 3 penalty points on their licence and a fine of £60.
The new clampdown is in response to evidence that the £30
fine brought in at the end of 2003 has done little to stop motorists
flouting the law.
Under health and safety
laws, a company itself can be prosecuted and face charges of individual
or corporate manslaughter and unlimited fines if its employees
flout the laws.
The use of a hands-free
car kit is the only way to ensure that if you or your employees
have to communicate whilst on the road, they can do so safely
and within the law.
Which in-car solution is
right for me?
If you already have a mobile that you are
not planning to replace, the choice of car kit
we recommend will depend on the type of handset you have as well
as the make and model of
your car.
Other considerations include
whether your stereo system is standard or amplified and whether
you have satellite navigation installed, especially if you would
like the radio to mute when you take an incoming call and/or where
possible, route the audio through your stereo.
Conventional car kits
A wide range of fully fitted car kits exists
for the majority of Nokia, Siemens, Motorola and Sony Ericsson
phones. Most offer a cradle to charge and secure your phone and
an antenna to boost your signal and all provide a speaker and
microphone as a minimum.
Universal car kits
A universal car kit is also a fully fitted
kit, but with the added flexibility of only having to swap the
cradle rather than the whole system, should you change your handset.
Bluetooth car kits
Bluetooth solutions are becoming increasingly
popular due to more widespread use of Bluetooth phones and the
fact that there is no need for cabling or the use of a professional
installer.
If you have a Bluetooth
mobile then we can supply you with a compatible Bluetooth wireless
headset which communicates with your phone via radio waves at
a distance of up to 10 metres.
To stay within the law,
you will also need a cradle to hold your phone in place should
you need to dial out whilst on the road. These types of cradle
do not double up as a phone charger.
Full, professional installations
If you opt for the installation of a conventional
or universal car kit, then the kit will be installed by one of
our carefully selected installation engineers. They all work to
the MPT 1362 industry standard, following stringent guidelines
specific to your make and model of car.
With Timico, you can choose
the time and location of your installation, be it at your home
or work address, or another location of your choice. A full installation
takes between two and four hours, depending on the car kit and
model of car
Mobile email
The use of a handheld device allowing you
to send and receive e-mail wherever you are, is ideal for business
people on the move. These days there’s a wide variety of
phones on the market that double up as email devices too. You
can either opt for a purpose-designed device, such as a BlackBerry
or select one of the many handsets or PDAs out there that is now
compatible with Microsoft’s push email service.
The benefits of BlackBerry
are that it:
— allows
access to office e-mail when users are on the move
— enables users to action their
e-mails throughout the day
— uses 'always-on' GPRS technology
which means that emails are 'pushed' instantly to the device rather
than the user having to dial up
— makes downtime such as waiting
at a train station more productive
— results in faster decision-making
as information is available in real-time
— saves time with PIM tools
such as calendar, address book and task list all to hand and synchronised
with the user's PC
A BlackBerry Enterprise
Server (BES) and software are installed behind the corporate firewall
to communicate with your company's e-mail server. The software
recognises e-mails that are delivered to a user's office-based
inbox and instantly copies and sends them to the user's BlackBerry
device. Handheld BlackBerry and PC inboxes and folders can be
automatically synchronised.
BlackBerry works with both Microsoft® Exchange,
Lotus Domino™ and Novell GroupWise® e-mail systems.
It features end-to-end Triple DES encrypted security which means
the email remains encrypted at all points between the user's e-mail
account (behind the corporate firewall) and the user's wireless
handheld, providing optimum security.
With BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express®
you receive a free, full version download of the BlackBerry Enterprise
Server v4.1 Express (suitable for 1 to 15 users - 1 user included).
Further licenses can then be purchased via Timico.
Microsoft’s Push
Email solution
Microsoft has recently launched a new push
email service that is available on a range of devices including
the XDA Exec, XDA Mini S, XDA IQ and the Nokia E-Series, in addition
to a variety of other Windows Mobile 5.0-compatible devices.
The benefit of Microsoft's
push email service is that no server e.g. a BES in the case of
the BlackBerry solution, is required and the service is invoiced
based on the volume of data used.
A number of tariff options
are available, depending on the likely volume of data that will
be used - light, medium or heavy usage.
Features:
— Real
time access to email, Outlook folders, calendar, contacts and
tasks
— Mobile versions of familiar
Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint
— Email is pushed straight
to the device - no need to dial up or request to receive
— Browse the internet in full
colour on the move
— Data can be kept secure and
can be wiped over the air if the device is lost or stolen
— No loss of data if the battery
runs down
System requirements:
—
Microsoft Exchange server 2003, Service Pack 2. SP2 is available
as a free download from the Microsoft website
—
Suitable Windows Mobile 5.0 devices such as the XDA Exec, XDA
Mini S or XDA IQ
—
An appropriate Timico data enabled tariff on Vodafone or O2Laptop
users on the move can take advantage of new technology which delivers
a reliable, wireless internet connection, regardless of their
location.
Datacards
Another way of picking up email on the
move as well as getting access to the internet is with a datacard
working in conjunction with your laptop. With a datacard, users
can be more productive wherever they are as they can:
—
access their web-based email accounts, browse the internet and
use other internet applications
— send and receive text messages
from their laptop as if using a mobile phone
— travel light without the cables and paraphernalia needed
for traditional dial up
— use these services via their
datacard wherever there is GPRS coverage—Rather than pay
per minute charges, users are charged for the amount of data they
download, making it a far more cost-effective way of accessing
the internet on the move.
